Dragon Series V
Redy Rahadian - Painted Steel
In Chinese tradition, the red dragon stands as a sacred emblem the guardian of fortune, the protector of harmony, and the embodiment of strength refined by wisdom. The number eight, revered for its perfect symmetry and endless form, is a universal symbol of prosperity, luck, and continuity. When the dragon’s spirit intertwines with the shape of the infinite, their meanings merge into something even more powerful.
In this sculpture, Redy Rahadian envisions two red dragons coiling into an eternal embrace, forming the figure of eight. Each dragon, composed of his iconic human steel figures, represents countless individual strengths united in a shared purpose. Their mirrored forms rise and curve with fluid grace, signifying the unbroken cycle of protection and abundance.
Here, the guardianship of the dragon and the auspicious promise of the eight are not separate they are one. Together, they create an unending flow of energy, courage, and fortune, a testament that prosperity is not merely attained, but sustained through unity and balance across time.
