Black & White Series - Bonsai Tree
Redy Rahadian - Painted Steel
Black & White Bonsai Tree is a contemporary sculpture made from Redy Rahadian’s signature small iron human-like figures. Each figure appears to be striving supporting, lifting, and uniting to form an elegant, winding bonsai tree.
With a spiraling trunk and a perfectly balanced round canopy, the sculpture visualizes the spirit of yin and yang through a contrast of black and white tones. The white represents light, purity, and hope, while the black symbolizes shadow, strength, and depth. These two sides twist together in harmony, reflecting the balance between life’s opposing forces.
The bonsai, a symbol of perseverance, patience, and beauty within limitations, gains deeper meaning in this work through the arrangement of human figures a metaphor for collective struggle, unity, and dedication.
